A Small Intimate Bush Lodge

An authentic and memorable experience.

Elegant simplicity in harmony and balance with the Greater Kruger Park, a big 5 reserve. The intimate tented chalets impart a seamless connection between inside and outside to give a truly unusual sense of fusion with the South African bush.  Muweti Bush Lodge offers a unique setting for romantics, artists, nature lovers and world travellers.

Explore Muweti

Experience up close wildlife sightings in their natural environment.

Muweti forms part of the Balule Nature Reserve, approximately 55000ha of African bushveld, and part of the world renowned Greater Kruger National Park. With no fences between the Kruger Park proper and its neighbours, MUWETI is home to a range of wildlife, including the big 5. Whilst we are not obsessed with big 5, close encounters of the natural kind are experienced with some of these magnificent species on a regular basis. We strive to give our guests the fullest bush experience in all its facets. In our view there is not much to compare with the experience of viewing wildlife, including sometimes the big 5,  up close in an open vehicle. Rest assured our guides are professional, experienced, and your safety is always first in mind.

Quality time in the bush Amazing week at Muweti Bush Lodge, as always! :) It's a priviledge to spend some quality time at Muweti, surrounded by such a rich wildlife environment and such kind and interesting people. I was lucky enough to meet up with the lion family several times, but enjoyed just as well sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee, listening to the sounds of the bush. The top quality of the accomodation and food makes the lodge a perfect safe space to relax, reset and explore. A big thank you for the whole team who makes this adventure so special, time after time!

Best experience of my life ! Wow , what an amazing place Muweti is. I can't explain how much of an amazing place Muweti Bush Lodge is , the service and support off the staff was incredible in every aspect , the food was some of the best food I have ever eaten , the wildlife that the tour guides enabled us to see was the best views I have ever had of animals and the location itself of the lodge was brilliant as animals even came to the watering hole during our stay. I will definitely be back to Muweti as it gave me one of the best experiences of my life. The staff are incredible and take the best possible care of their guests , 11/10 rating in every aspect.

Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous!!!! My son and I stayed at the Muweti Lodge for 6 nights, arriving on 2nd April. We stayed in a tented chalet. which was beautiful. When we returned from the morning safari,. the room was spotless once more. We have had the most fabulous safari experiences, animals we thought we would never see. The guides, Hardus (South Africa's answer to Crocodile Dundee) and Neil have a vast amount of knowledge between them and their priority was always our safety. They never get tired of answering your questions and are always prompt for the safaris. The food is delicious and you get plenty of it. The grounds make you feel relaxed and if you are lucky, like we were, the Elephants will come and visit the Watering Hole which in its self is an amazing highlight! Nothing is too much trouble at the Muweti Lodge and Laura, who is one of the owners, is wonderful. She will go out of her way to make your stay as perfect as possible and its a lovely to hear her stories around the camp fire and dinner table. If I could rate the Muweti Lodge any higher, I would. Thanks Team Muweti, if we get the chance, we will be back. Jo x

Adventure in Muweti I had the privilege of staying in Muweti Bush lodge with friends in March and what an incredible experience it was. Mike and Laura are both keen conservationists and their love of the land and the animals truly shines through to make this a unique experience. I stayed in one of the tented chalets which was super comfortable and our every need was catered for. Morning game drives seeing all manner of wildlife to a nice g&t for sundowner drives. We really were spoiled. Dinner under the stars after camp fire in a truly stunning natural reservation. We were lucky enough to have elephants come right up to the watering hole at the perimeter of the lodge to let us watch in awe from the perfect vantage point of the deck by the pool. Enjoy this place if you are lucky enough to get a spot . It's incredible and you will not want to leave. Truly other worldly.

Muweti Bush Adventure! I can highly recommend visiting and staying at Muweti Lodge. In the last six years I have visited several lodges in South Africa and this one is one of the best!!! The host couple Laura and Mike and staff, do everything to ensure that you are comfortable and experience the best of animal and nature experiences in the bush. They have extensive experience and a lot of knowledge and they take you out to the animals in a safe and exciting way. Three out of four game drives we saw lions up close, but also a herd of buffalo, elephants and much more. We also saw several animals arriving at the lodge, and we were visited by various elephant families drinking from the well outside the fence. The food is 10 out of 10 and you get fantastic taste experiences from Africa. The food is served around a set table under the starry sky, and you are surrounded by sounds of the nightlife and lovely laughter around the table. The luxurious tents under the thatched roofs feel safe and you can sleep peacefully, but at the same time be part of the bush. Come and stay at Muweti Lodge! Stay for at least 2-3 days to get the best, which they are also very keen to give you.

Most Memorable Bush / Game viewing experience in the Greater Kruger / Balule Reserve area For the most intimate and immersive bush / game experience, in the Greater Kruger Park reserve, at reasonable rates, look no further. We've been fortunate, as South Africans, to have had many bush experiences but this was right up there with the best. The food was outstanding, the rooms 1st class and hospitality ever so personal, making us feel totally at home like family. As for the games drives, these were superb, on 3 out of the 4 games drives we saw Lion, not to mention a host of other wild life. One of our top highlights was when a herd of Elephants came to drink from the water hole right nexto the lodge. Last but not least, our hosts Laura & Mike made us feel like royalty and did everything they could to make our time as pleasurable & as comfortable as possible. Thanks so much

Excellent bush lodge Had an incredible time at Muweti Bush Lodge. Visited for 3 days with my sister and brother in law. The accomodation was gorgeous with attention to detail. The food was first class and the lodge was in a terrific setting overlooking the bush with wildlife passing by. Mike and his staff were so welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much bother. They could not do enough to ensure an enjoyable stay. Of course the most important part of a bush stay is the game drives,of which we enjoyed 2 each day. The guides Hardus and Neil were knowledgeable and informative. They drove diffiult terrain with skill and knew where to find almost any species. We saw most animals up close. The pool and bar provided excellent downtime with evening drinks around the fire. A great stay all round. Thank you Mike ,Hardu and Neil

Immersive safari experience with outstanding service This is my third time at Muweti and each time gets better. We booked the cottage again and did not regret it. The cottage has everything you need for a self-catering holiday, with the twice-a-day game drives picking you up right outside. It also has wifi now, which is great for those who want to stay connected during their stay. Hardus is an incredibly knowledgeable guide, interspersing stories between sightings that bring the bush and animals to life. Going in January meant lush, green plains a marked difference from going in winter or autumn. I highly recommend Muweti for an immersive safari experience with outstanding service.

A truly memorable experience Muweti is exactly as advertised: an intimate fusion with the surrounding reserve and wildlife. Hardus guided us expertly through the reserve and went out of his way to pick each morning and evening route to find wildlife and great vantage points for sunrise and sunset. He is passionate about wildlife and his deep knowledge shows each day. I appreciated that he and other guides on the reserve cooperate to find wildlife but also keep sufficient distance to not crowd the wildlife. The meals are wonderful. This is a small camp with just a few tented chalets, so it was often very quiet. We listened to elephants walk past our tent several times. We enthusiastly recommend Muweti.

Tented Chalets

Sleep in close proximity to the wilds of Africa.

Muweti’s tented chalets are positioned to give a truly unusual sense of fusion with the bush. Three tented chalets each sleeping two people for an intimate setting. Sit under the magnificently clear skies dazzling with a spectacle of stars. Be comforted by a slowly burning campfire and enjoy a delicious truly South African meal. Relax on the pool side deck and wait for game to come and drink at the waterhole. Relax at the pool gazing onto the Drakensberg Mountains in the distance with the bushveld right in front of you.
