MUWETI is a small, intimate lodge, started in 2010, by ourselves Laura and Mike Joseph.
At the time our intention was to create an intimate bush experience, and to share what we experience almost daily with our guests. Whilst you can feel as if you are part of a family, we strive to offer an excellent level of service to our guests. This intention has been consolidated over the years and now is the basis of our offering, or our brand. We have consistently achieved the Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor, and our reputation and commitment to our guests is well established by hundreds of review on many different platforms.
Due to the growth of the lodge to where it is now, we have had to employ additional professional staff. The way of Muweti has been part of our mentoring of the staff and we are comfortable that, should we be absent for any reason, the brand and Muweti will be carried high by our staff.
Muweti can host a maximum of 6 guests in the tented accommodation (catered option with safaris included) and 4 guests in the self catering cottage (self catering only; safaris can be added as an extra).
The positioning of the tented chalets gives an unusual sense of fusion with the bush. Besides getting an opportunity to sleep in close proximity to the African bush, occasionally some of our guests have had truly remarkable experiences of wildlife very close to their tented chalets (and the cottage).
The self catering cottage (hired out on a strictly self catering basis) is about 150m from the lodge, which gives you an opportunity to do your own thing on a self catering basis.
MUWETI is a vernacular name for the leadwood tree of an indigenous language. We are proud to carry the name of Muweti as the tree is a spectacular reminder of how precious our natural resources are.
MUWETI forms part of the Balule Nature Reserve, approximately 55000ha of African bushveld and part of the world renowned Greater Kruger National Park. With no fences between the Kruger Park proper and its neighbours, MUWETI is home to a range of wildlife, including the big 5. Whilst we are not obsessed with big5, close encounters of the natural kind are experienced with some of these magnificent species on a regular basis. . We strive to give our guests the fullest bush experience in all its facets. In our view there is not much to compare with the experience of viewing wildlife, including sometimes the big 5, up close in an open vehicle. Rest assured our guides are professional, experienced and your safety is always first in mind.
Many of our guests have said that they come as guests and leave as friends.
Covid 19 has placed the world unexpectantly in a different scenario, At Muweti we know what we have and what we try to achieve. This will remain. We will be true to our brand. We believe our past guests will understand.
